Provisional Real-Time Hydro-Meteorological Data
Real-time CORPS data presented on this WEB site for streamflow, meteorologic, and reservoir
pool gages is collected remotely and relayed from our projects and gages to the Sacramento
District via radio and phone lines. This data has had only limited automated computer review
and is considered PROVISIONAL. This data may contain missing or erroneous values, is subject
to revision and change, and is not citeable until reviewed and approved.
Real-time meteorological data may be changed after review due to adjustments in the calibration
of instruments. Real-time stream flow data may be changed after review based on the stage-discharge
relationship, which may be affected by:
- Backwater from obstructions such as debris jams or diversion dams
- Algae and vegetative growth in the stream channel
- Changes in channel morphology due to sediment movement or bank erosion
- Malfunction of gaging equipment
All data is reviewed periodically to ensure accuracy. Each station record is considered PROVISIONAL
until the data is published or approved by the agency responsible for collection. Data is usually published
within 1 year of the end of the water year. Data users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional
nature of the information before using it for decisions that concern personal or public safety or the conduct
of business that involves substantial monetary or operational consequences.
